Mayer Hawthorne and Rhythm Wine: One More Party in L.A.
On the evening of March 8th, we were on hand for Mayer Hawthorne’s surprise listening party at The Mondrian in Los Angeles for his newest release – Man About Town. We partnered with Mayer Hawthorne and his team to pair a locally based winemaker that truly represented both Mayer’s style and the wines that a true man about town would drink.
Held in the Skybar, a billowy, minimalistic ivory-colored room adjacent to the pool deck at the hotel, the kick-off event was filled with super fans who gladly gave up their mobile phones to listen to the new album, ask Mayer questions about his influences, and enjoy some pizza and wine.
For the Los Angeles event, we selected Rhythm Wine, founded by Angeleno Jasper Dickson who offered the lucky Mayer fans three varieties:
Some Silverlake residents may know of both the Bike Path and The Meadow, two famous locales in the the community. Jasper noted that years prior to Napa and Southern California, L.A. in particular was a significant wine-producing location. He wanted to craft a brand that not only looked back to the heritage of winemaking in Los Angeles, but also to the future.
Clearly, the Los Angeles crowd gravitated towards the effervescent Rosé, made with one of the lesser used grapes – Graciano. The smooth taste paired well with the smooth sounds of the new album, taking you back to the sounds of roots Reggae and Steely Dan. Check out a few photos of the event below.
We will be on hand with each new city that is announced, pairing a different wine and winemaker for each city.
