“Unexpected and complex” is how that encounter felt. It was our second brush in as many weeks, and we both felt there was something there. The outdoor patio was filled with attractive people holding glasses of various beverages mingling and being joyful. The energy of the crowd opened up a circle in the middle where we found each other – again. The conversation and the wine had beautiful color, crispness and spice. The Pinot I drank was different than the sometimes overly fruit forward California types that leave more to be desired on the palate. This one had substance. This one had the perfect balance of soft tannins, sweet fruit and a little spice on the finish that made it memorable.
